These reports are made publicly available and support the private sector in their public reporting.

As part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, private sector actors are required to identify risks in their supply chain and publicly report on them.

Our project to develop a civil society toolkit together with COSOC-GL connects local actors with field level expertise and knowledge to private sector actors who are in need of reliable, up-to-date information from the Great Lakes region.

The toolkit has been developed based on the needs of the private sector and includes a simple and easy to read checklist.

COSOC-GL members are being trained on how to use the toolkit and it is being piloted across the Great Lakes region. The reports will be made publicly available on the COSOC-GL website.

Funding

The development and piloting of the Toolkit is funded by Global Affairs Canada and began in 2016. The project is part of our wider support to COSOC-GL providing capacity building and opportunities for skills sharing to local civil society actors.
