We’re pleased to share our newly released Annual Report for 2024-2025, Enabling Community Resilience.
This past year reminded us what resilience looks like in practice. The communities we work with continue to lead change with determination, creativity, and deep local knowledge. Their actions show that progress takes hold when those most affected by resource extraction define the solutions and have the power to carry them forward.
As global demand for critical minerals grows, the need for equitable and transparent natural resource governance has never been greater. In many regions, instability and exclusion continue to limit rights, access, and participation in decision-making.
At the same time, long-standing commitments to responsible sourcing and sustainability face mounting pressure. Against this backdrop, our work this past year focused on supporting local partners and communities to strengthen systems that promote accountability, inclusion, and long-term stability.
In 2024–2025, our projects built on lessons learned and deepened our partnerships to advance community-led solutions across multiple regions. Highlights include:
- Advancing safer and formalized artisanal mining to strengthen livelihoods and inclusion in Uganda.
- Supporting the ICGLR to turn minerals into opportunities that drive peace and stability across the Great Lakes Region.
- Strengthening women’s security and inclusion in DRC’s cobalt and copper sector to address the root causes of child labour amid the global critical minerals rush.
- Making mercury history in Zimbabwe’s artisanal gold sector by promoting safer and more sustainable practices.
- Empowering community-led action on climate adaptation and forest restoration in DRC.
- Scaling up digital tools for responsible artisanal gold trading in Côte d’Ivoire.
We thank our partners, funders, and the communities we work with for their continued trust and collaboration. Together, we are enabling change by building systems that support lasting peace, equality, and sustainable development.
