A new study that examines due diligence efforts in the precious stone and diamond supply chains has been released. “Due Diligence for Responsible Sourcing of Precious Stones” was undertaken by the Precious Stones Multi-Stakeholder Working Group (PS-MSWG), an open, non-exclusive coalition of companies, associations, NGOs and governments sharing an interest in responsible sourcing and supply chain due diligence for precious stones.
The study reviews current due diligence approaches by the industry and identifies potential gaps. The primary objective of the study was to determine whether additional due diligence measures appear to be feasible or necessary within the precious stones supply chain and, if so, identify how such due diligence measures might be applied to precious stones supply chains.
