We’re pleased to share our newly released Annual Report for 2025-2026, Unearthing Possibilities.

Possibility is rarely unearthed all at once. It comes from communities having a real say over their natural resources and from evidence that shifts policy and practice. This past year, we saw the results of sustained work take shape, as communities gained greater influence over local priorities and years of advocacy translated into policy and regulatory progress.

This year also marks 40 years of IMPACT working alongside communities to advance the responsible management of natural resources. The conviction that founded the organization has not changed: communities must have genuine authority over decisions about the resources around them.

That conviction continued to guide our work in contexts shaped by conflict, political instability, environmental degradation, a shifting climate, and volatile markets. These realities reinforced the importance of responses shaped by local knowledge and leadership, with communities at the centre of decisions that affect them.

Two years into our five-year strategic plan, our work has reached over 11,000 people across 14 countries. Highlights from our work in 2025-2026 include:

  • Working with communities across five territories in Democratic Republic of Congo to establish and strengthen community-based governance mechanisms for dialogue with mining companies and authorities.
  • Securing recognition of artisanal and small-scale mining in the G7 Critical Minerals Action Plan, after years of sustained advocacy by IMPACT and its partners.
  • Testing digital tools in Côte d’Ivoire to strengthen due diligence and traceability in artisanal gold supply chains.
  • Strengthening monitoring and evaluation across IMPACT’s projects and those of partners and other organizations through Bloom by IMPACT.

We thank our partners, funders, and the communities we work alongside for their continued trust and collaboration. Forty years in, communities remain our guiding star. Together, let us continue unearthing possibilities.
